Brake Help and Green Cord ?

Post by kbrotman » Sat Sep 12, 2015 2:02 pm

Am almost done but need help with brake assembly. You have a close up of how it should be installed? I have it in and watched the first forum on adjusting but need to know how to string the cable, attach where and how, adjust for movement in brake caliper etc etc. Plus the other two silver adjustment knobs are for what adjustment?

Last (myabe) - what exactly is the green bugee for? It is in those holes but not sure what it is giving tension to?

Hi! We will work on getting you a few more pictures of the brake mounting and cable running over the next couple of days. The two silver knobs are for adjusting the angle of the brake and shouldn't be needed. If some is askew, you could use them but the design does not require it.

The green bungee is to hold the smartphone in place while driving. #14 has talked about some speedometer and telemetry apps in a separate post. It is fun to see how fast you are going and what kind of Gs you are pulling!

I need this as well. Brake caliper is assembled per the first hangout session. The brake disc wobbles when you rotate the axle causing it to stick, lock, and move the caliper assembly. I gapped out the pads as much as possible, any more and the disc will hit the caliper housing instead of the pad. It rotates but has a bad bind in two places.

Is this normal and requires burn in???

Zee, make sure you have the brake disc attached to the correct side of the hub. The hubs were way out of spec when we received them, so we re-machined them on one side. The disc should be on the machined side of the hub, not the painted side.

The disc is mounted on the machined side. I can take a video of it running if you want to see wobble.

Dave, here is a video showing calliper wobble. It moves about 3/8".

Hi Zee. This looks way worse than we would expect. All of these were post machined to true them up. Yikes!

We will ship you another hub and/or disc, but I can't tell from the video whether it is a wobble or eccentricity. If it is the wobble, we will get you out a hub tomorrow. Thanks!

I think it's a wobble, I'll shoot video from the side view as well.

Unless I'm mistaken, I think that brake hub is not right, the set screw should be on the other side.
